Spatial Technologies Ltd Signed A Contract with Google to Supply Nigerian Telecom Mast And School POI Geo-database

Spatial Technologies Ltd (STL) –Nigerian foremost mapping and GIS Solution provider had been contracted by Google to supply 10,000 telecom mast location geodata and intelligent Points Of Interest representing the precise map location of some 15,000 schools across Nigeria.

STL started the direct field data capture and mapping of telecom masts across Nigeria since 2007 using advanced integrated mobile data capture solution. The result is what is now considered the most impressive independent telecom mast geodatabase that can be displayed in a GIS environment or integrated as a Google Map compactible layer.

This enables Google to evaluate and meet the vision of providing internet connectivity in some selected schools across Nigeria.

The telecom mast geo-database includes such attributes as:
1. Precise address of the mast
2. The Local Government Area (LGA) and State where the mast is located
3.The name of the Operator using the map
4. The height of the mast
5. The geographic Latitude/Longitude for each mast.

This database which includes both co-located and independent masts can be displayed in a GIS environment and analyzed with other intelligent GIS data for informed business and operational decision making process.

The school geo-database contains the school name, address, LGA, State and school type (an indication showing if it is a primary, secondary or tertiary school)

Both layers are expected to be supplied in ESRI's Shapefile format

“We are extremely delighted at this opportunity to work with Google on this laudable project in Nigeria. This engagement will further strengthen the brand of Google in Nigeria and greatly improve the online profile of Nigerian schools. STL’s location content is spearheading compelling location-enabled analyses in Nigeria. STL continues to develop innovative content that enables our industry collaborators to bring better and more differentiated offerings to their consumers.” said to Ireti Ajala –the CEO of STL.
